Western Bluebird Birdbox and Visitors

Post by JasonBuckPV » Fri Apr 17, 2020 10:38 am

I make homes for the birds too.

I teach a class to fellow Realtors about local History and origination of our cities called the PV Specialist Course. I asked local photographer and Palos Verdes Land Conservancy member Randy Harwood to speak. He presented photos and explained about local birds, butterfly's, and native plants. He mentioned that sparrows are taking over the habitat that the Western Bluebird would nest in.

As a home builder I thought that I should make a birdbox for a safe home for our native birds. I did some research and came up with the dimensions of the box specific to the Western Bluebird and made a bundle from Red Cedar fence posts and some hardware. This box has been outside my office window vacant for a year, but TODAY - I had some visitors. Looks like a cute couple is looking for a home. I am soooo pleased.. Thanks Randy for the great advice, and Thanks to the Palos Verdes Land Conservancy for protecting our natural habitat.
